Ominous

Just wished I acted on this ominous feeling,
When it first crept in with its silent stealing,
A whisper in my ear, a chill down my spine,
A warning that something was not right, not fine.

But I ignored it, pushed it to the side,
Thinking it was just my anxious mind,
I let it linger, ignored the signs,
Thinking that I'd be just fine.

But now I see with clear hindsight,
That I should have acted with all my might.
